One of the ministries of St Andrew’s church, across the road, is Saturday Praying On The Streets (SPOTS). This started from a desire to replicate the Healing on the Streets (HOTS) model that came from the Vineyard church in Coleraine (Northern Ireland) but we have developed a little to become our own. We go out on to the High Street for an hour on Saturday mornings, always in a pair, and ideally with someone also praying just inside. We greet passers by and ask them if they want prayer, about anything. Our desire is to see people healed from illness or disease, in Jesus’ name and to His glory, but we pray about anything offered to us. Most people at least politely interact; a few stop to talk and pray; a very few ignore us or are frankly rude. And at the very least, we can always bless people in Jesus’ name.

We are struggling to resource this ministry with enough people to be out there every week and believe that we should be asking people from other local churches if they might be being called to join with us (and we have the approval in this of our leader, Phil Carman). In Luke 5, Jesus gets Peter and his mates to put the nets out again, and the catch of fish is so great that they have to call other boats to come and help them.

If you think that you might be being called to help us in this work then please speak to Wynn, who has my contact details.
